A lush, cautionary tale of a life of vileness and deception or a loving portrait of the aesthetic impulse run rampant? Why not both? After Basil Hallward paints a beautiful, young man's portrait, his subject's frivolous wish that the picture change and he remain the same comes true. Dorian Gray's picture grows aged and corrupt while he continues to appear fresh and innocent. After he kills a young woman, "as surely as if I had cut her little throat with a knife", Dorian Gray is surprised to find no difference in his vision or surroundings. "The roses are not less lovely for all that. The birds sing just as happily in my garden."

As Hallward tries to make sense of his creation, his epigram-happy friend Lord Henry Wotton encourages Dorian in his sensual quest with any number of Wildean paradoxes, including the delightful "When we are happy we are always good, but when we are good we are not always happy." But despite its many languorous pleasures, The Picture of Dorian Gray is an imperfect work. Compared to the two (voyeuristic) older men, Dorian is a bore, and his search for ever new sensations far less fun than the novel's drawing-room discussions. Even more oddly, the moral message of the novel contradicts many of Wilde's supposed aims, not least "no artist has ethical sympathies. An ethical sympathy in an artist is an unpardonable mannerism of style." Nonetheless, the glamour boy gets his just deserts. And Wilde, defending Dorian Gray, had it both ways: "All excess, as well as all renunciation, brings its own punishment."

Kurzbeschreibung

?Do you fall for every guy you meet in a public toilet??

Blackhall. A private boys school. A dumping ground for troubled youths and family problems. To date, the only fully-functional, above-ground educational facility on a newly colonised planet.

Clockworld certainly seemed like the perfect location on paper - a small, lush planetoid far from existing colonies, plentiful resources and solid land. It wasn?t until later that people realised all the native vegetation had hallucinogenic, psychotropic and other mind-altering properties. And it would be far too expensive to build again somewhere else.

***

?The jungle. The jungle is right outside. You walk twenty metres outside those gates and you?re in the middle of an alien planet.? Hathaway makes a small, nervous motion that?s not quite a shrug. ?No one else seems to notice.?

***

Josie, War, Aubrey and Ping are just your average students, riddled with psychosis and hormones. They?re stuck on Clockworld until another world sees fit to take them back. Between the love triangles, shuttle malfunctions, fighting, ghosts and confused romantic feelings they might not even have time to get really, really ridiculously high.

Kurzbeschreibung

When it comes to one-night stands, Malachi Bishop has ?rules?. No pillow talk. No sleeping over. No planning a future hook-up. First names only. It?s just sex, not a prelude to love. But when Cole Malcolm, a smooth-talking management consultant, woos Malachi into bed, the rulebook is tossed out the window.
The one-time fling leaves Cole reeling: Malachi is his first real shot at happiness, his ?forever? man, and he?s determined to show Malachi just how good they could be together. But Malachi doesn?t believe in happily-ever-after, and dodges Cole?s play for his heart. After all, Malachi is still mourning the loss of Taylor Blanchard, whom he hoped to love forever. Then there?s Zach Brennan, a handsome twenty-five-year-old and student at the college where Malachi teaches. Falling for Zach could destroy everything he?s worked for, but Malachi can?t help himself.

Caught by love and in its betrayal, it?s a later affair with a beautiful stranger that changes Malachi?s life most dramatically. Now Malachi must confront his present and his past that bring into question the larger fantasies of home and his place in the world.

Kurzbeschreibung

?Who was that boy, really, and why was he willing to go off with a guy he had met barely two hours before?? Eduardo, the hero of this story, wonders, after embarking on a strange relationship with a young man he had just met in the street. ?Maybe he?s running away from somebody? If not that, why is he in such a hurry to leave? OK, sometimes you can improvise a friendship with strangers (who has not struck up a conversation with a stranger in a bar or at a bus stop?), sometimes you can be having a bad day, one of those days when you?re feeling lonely, sad, and bored and if, besides, you?re broke and somebody offers to buy you a drink, you?re not going to say no. But, is that what happened? Was our meeting caused by accident? Something inside me tells me that Tino could harm me very much, but sometimes you have to take a risk. Life was not always going to be routine and safety. There could also be an unexpected adventure just around the corner ? ? Love story, psychodrama with shades of dirty realism, A Distant Beach surprises us, trapping us from the first moment in the magic of its web, by its honesty, its emotive strength, and its vision, never complacent, of certain aspects of homosexual relationships.

Kurzbeschreibung

Cheating death is easy?the hard part is knowing when not to.

From the moment an anonymous rescuer pulled him back from the brink of death, Dane Harper has vowed to live every second of his life to the fullest. Nothing would please him more than to share those stolen moments with the man who, literally, held his life in his hands. First, though, he has to find him. Then convince him it?s safe to come out of his self-imposed shadows.

Even if it means playing dirty.

Court has no regrets about manipulating that one second of fate to save Dane?s life, but having this accursed power to cheat death isn?t the only thing darkening his lonely existence. The last thing he needs is an eternal optimist shining a cheery light on the dark, tortured corners of his past. Except now that Dane has found him, there?s no shaking him...and the longer Court basks in Dane?s relentless warmth, the more he begins to believe that maybe, just maybe, happiness can at last be his.

Distracted by the devilish sparkle in Dane?s eyes, Court begins to forget that there are those who would kill to control his stunning power. And that Dane is the perfect bait?

Warning: Beware?features a man with absolutely no scruples about resorting to seduction and cheap tricks to get what he wants. Plus a skittish, supernaturally gifted paramedic who?s about to discover that it?s okay to go along for the ride.

Kurzbeschreibung

Sex, friendship and relationships come into play when five gay men gather for an evening together in a small flat in the north of England. Out of control host Nelson has a few surprises for his guests and tempts them with his new found foray into the porn world. What else could the conversation turn to but the only two things that interest them: cocks and cars.
The evening climaxes too soon for exhibitionist Nelson and, with him comatose on the sofa and celibate Jack on the way home, the coast is finally clear for cum addicts Danny and Sebastian to move in on the remaining hunk.
Short story/vignette (7,800 words)
